I married my college sweetheart in July 2009. We are very happy together. He is quite tall--and hard to miss if he is standing next to me. So my actual last name is not just LaQuay. It is LaQuay-Butrym. My husband is Polish, so it is likely we'll be living in Poland for a long time--if not for the rest of our lives. We hope to start expanding our family soon!

Since I married my husband, my family grew too. I have the most amazing mother-in-law who worries about us constantly and makes us our favorite foods whenever we go and visit her on the weekends--which is often. I also have a sister-in-law, who is fun to shop and talk with for hours. She has a son, Dawid, who is turning 16 this year--and he is tall just like my husband. Dawid is very athletic and loves to play basketball and go cycling. He has actually won a couple of races and even though I enjoy riding my bike, I could never keep up with him! They have a dog named, Gabby, who is very excited when you play with her.

I have the most loving and inspirational parents in the world. My dad & mom taught me to live life to the fullest, to pour my heart into what matters, to devour books, to respect myself and others. Most importantly they taught me unconditional love. I try to get home and spend time with them once a year. Other than that, we use facebook, skype, and email! <SIGH> I do miss them--living so far away is not easy. Sometimes I worry about my mom's health because she has been very sick. When I'm really worried, I want to go home and be with her to make sure she'll be okay.

Diana
Diana is my big sister and she is still always watching out for her two little sisters. She and her husband even bought me my first car when I was in college. She is generous and loving. She has 2 children--my niece, Christina (who will be 12 in November), and my nephew, Ian (who will be 11 in July). I love them both to bits. They are so precious to me. I remember the days they were each born. I remember hearing Christina's first cry. I was so excited and moved by the miracle of her life. I actually wrote a song about her! She was my flower girl in my wedding and Ian was my ring bearer. This past summer, we tried to take them to Marine Land but my husband wasn't allowed into Canada--another interesting story you can ask me about later. Instead, we took them to a water park. We had a lot of fun.

Danielle
Danielle is my baby sister--granted she is only a year younger than me and about 7 inches taller than me--that year makes her my baby sister. I have had the blessing of teaching her what not to do in a few instances--i.e. Don't jump off a twenty feet tower and swing from it with a rope to land in water! I demonstrated for her why she shouldn't do that! :) She never ceases to amaze me with her many gifts and talents. Danielle is a photographer, a caterer, a chef, and much much more. She has dyslexia which made reading, writing, learning a foreign language, and spelling very difficult for her as a child. It is from knowing and loving her that I learned the most about supporting children with learning needs. My baby sister got married before me and now has a 2 daughters and is pregnant with her third child! I'll be anxiously awaiting her call in January telling me my new niece has arrived!
Well that is my immediate family in a nutshell! They are the reason that I miss central NY so much...and why central NY will always be my home.
